Talk about the CBC moving to Hamilton had long been happening. Local members of the community had anticipated the reality of the discussion to assist the renewal of downtown Hamilton.

Behold the coming of this reality, where on Feb 8th it became official. The CBC was announced to move to downtown in 118 Jame St North in the plan to create a “home to CBC’s next generation of local digital services, and be a centre of innovation for local services to come from the national public broadcaster.”

The enforcement of this huge move is seen in the photo above, where the CBC Hamilton team gathers to discuss the design work for their new space! To track the progress of the coming establishment of CBC Hamilton, click here.

Side note: while speaking to Roger Gillespie on Twitter this morning, I asked what his impressions of Hamilton were in the beginning discussions of moving here. He states: “bayfront trail on rollerblades, websters falls, the lister block, the dundurn stairs, the beach strip. etc. hamilton is awesome.” In response to this, I say welcome to Hamilton, CBC!
